The Best Buttermilk Pancakes and Addicting Creamy Syrup

Ingredients

Pancakes

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3 T sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups buttermilk
  • 3 T melted butter
  • sprinkle of nutmeg about 1/8 tsp

Syrup

  • 1 stick salted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Combine dry ingredients and whisk or sift.
  • In a separate bowl, combine wet ingredients and whisk well. 
  • Combine the wet and dry but do not overmix!
  • Preheat a griddle or frying pan over medium heat. Melt some butter in the pan and dollop some pancake batter on the hot surface. Flip and cook the other side once you see the bubbles popping on the surface.
  • For the syrup: In a small saucepan, melt the butter. 
  • Add the sugar and cook gently for one minute. Stirring the whole time.
  • Turn off the heat and add the heavy cream. Mix to combine. Serve hot!
