Pecan Pie Bars

These insanely addicting Pecan Pie bars are such a good dessert option for Thanksgiving!

Ingredients

Crust Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup softened butter (12 T)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups flour

Filling Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 3 T heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. 
  • Prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. 
  • Combine crust ingredients and blend with a handheld mixer. The mixture will look very dry and crumbly. When it is mixed thoroughly, use your hands to press it into the bottom of the baking dish. 
  • Bake for 10 minutes, then remove. 
  • Prepare filling ingredients by combining melted butter, pure maple syrup, brown sugar, eggs, heavy cream, and salt. Whisk together, then add pecans and mix. 
  • Pour pecan filling over the pre-baked crust. Use a spoon to separate clumps of nuts. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set. The center will still be a bit jiggly, and the mixture will be bubbling. 
  • Remove from oven and let cool on the counter until no longer warm, (a few hours) then transfer to the fridge.

Note: this seems to stay together best when stored and served cold.
