I got this recipe from @marthastewart a decade ago and it’s still my favorite way to do taco’s, tostada’s, etc. I added a very old video (archived from my stories) of a demo I did on this recipe. Not the greatest quality video- but the taco filling is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻!

Taco Filling
I come back to this taco filling again and again! It does the trick every time.

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup water (or 1 cup of water if you drain the fat from the beef)
- 2 T tomato paste
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
Instructions
- In a large frying pan over medium heat, cook the ground beef, stirring and constantly breaking apart the beef.
- When the meat is mostly cooked through, add the onions and bell peppers and continue cooking, stirring constantly until vegetables are soft and meat is cooked through.
- Add garlic and cook for another minute. Add the water, tomato paste, and seasonings. stir to combine and reduce heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Pile on top of tortillas or taco shells and garnish with lettuce, sour cream, avocado, and cilantro.
