My Mom is a legend because of her amazing Sloppy Joe recipe! It’s always a crowd-pleaser, and it is actually one of the easiest things to throw together!
The secret ingredient is the Homade (brand) chili sauce. If you cannot find this chili sauce, DO NOT use any other brand of chili sauce. It’s just not nearly as good with a different brand. Trust me. This chili sauce is a Utah original, but it looks like it’s sold all over the nation now! But I do apologize to all those of you who won’t be able to find this at your grocery store. It can be found on Amazon (for a pretty penny). Feel free to comment below and tell me where you live and what store you have found this at, so others can come back and reference it!
Note: when I demonstrated this on my Instagram stories, I used 1.3 pounds of ground beef. To accommodate that, I used the entire can of tomato soup. Also, I tried out the Kroger brand of tomato soup (as opposed to Campbell’s) and was pleasantly surprised. The soup had no BPA, no corn syrup, and fewer preservatives. 👍🏼

The legendary Sloppy Joe recipe! Trust me, such a crowd-pleaser.
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 of a white/yellow onion
- 2/3 of a 10 3/4 oz. can of tomato soup (or the whole can if you like it saucier)
- 1 jar of Homade Chili Sauce
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and the onion until each is cooked through and onion is translucent.
Add the tomato soup and the chili sauce. Stir to combine.
Turn heat to low and allow the sauce to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Fill some hamburger buns with meat mixture, and enjoy!
