FRESH FRUIT WASH

This isn’t a recipe but I get more questions about this than maybe anything else! And hundreds of you have messaged me to tell me that since I shared this tip, your fruit no longer rots in the fridge in just a few short days. 🙌🏻 The vinegar inhibits mold and bacteria growth, and also thoroughly cleans the fruit of diet, debris, and cobwebs. (It’s amazing how dirty the water is after the soak!)

I started out using this fruit soak just for grapes but it works amazing for berries too! And also works great for pretty much every other fruit or veggie. And NO, it really does not make any fruit taste even remotely like vinegar!!!

Fresh Fruit Wash

A simple trick to help your fresh fruits and vegetables to last longer in the fridge. And no it does not alter the taste of the produce in the slightest!

Course: Fruit Wash
Prep Time: 20 minutes

Instructions

  • Get a big bowl of water and fill with water.
  • Submerge your fruit and add 1/2 cup of vinegar. Any vinegar works, but I just use white vinegar because it is the least expensive.
  • Set a timer for 20 minutes. When the 20 minutes is up, drain in a strainer and give the fruit a good rinse.
  • For grapes or thicker-skinned fruits, put into an airtight bowl or bag and in the fridge. For berries, lay them out to dry in a clean dish towel. When they are completely dry, put them in an airtight bowl or bag and into the fridge. And that's it!
