Homemade Cinnamon Granola is the best kind of granola. It just tastes so good. I made this for breakfast one morning at a family reunion and it was a hit with all 50+ of my extended family members! I served yogurt bowls with this delicious granola and berries. It was delish!
I love making granola at home because I can add whatever I want to it! Hate nuts? Don’t add nuts! Hate dried fruit? Don’t add dried fruit! The only non-negotiable is cinnamon! Cinnamon just makes granola taste so warm and compliments the toastiness (is that a word?) so well.
How to Make Homemade Cinnamon Granola
Making granola is actually a pretty simple formula:
- 3 parts old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 part add-ins (nuts, seeds, coconut flakes etc.)
- 1/3 part melted coconut oil
- 1/3 cup honey or pure maple syrup
- + a hearty sprinkle of cinnamon!
For a pretty standard amount, you can start with 1 cup as your measurement. You’ll end up with about 5 cups of granola when you’re done. That should fit pretty easily on a standard half sheet pan. If you do, say, 2 cups as your measurement, you’ll end up with double that and will have to use a couple of sheet pans to bake it all. So if you’re cooking for a crowd, measure accordingly!
Mix everything up together in a bowl and pour onto a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Make sure you remember to grease or line the pan, or else it will end up sticking.
Bake for about 15 minutes at 350 degrees F. Be careful not to let it burn. It should get golden and smell amazing while cooking!
How Should I Store Homemade Cinnamon Granola?
Store in an airtight container and use it within two weeks. You can put it in a plastic bag or a glass or plastic storage container and keep it on the counter or in the pantry. It’s so good though you won’t have leftovers for long.
What Mix-Ins Should I Add?
I purposely didn’t specify which mix-ins you should add to your granola because you can really add anything! I’ve done pecans, coconut, and pumpkin seeds and it was absolutely delicious! I’ve also done salted cashews, pistachios, and pumpkin seeds and that was a tasty salty-sweet combo too. Experiment with whatever you have in the pantry and you might come up with a new combination.
Here are some ideas:
- Pecans
- Cashews
- Pumpkin seeds
- Coconut
- Pistachios
- Almonds
- Dried cranberries
- Raisins
- Sun flower seeds
- Chia seeds
- Dried cherries
…You get the idea! Any combo of dried fruit and nuts will work and be delicious.
