Seriously the best salad. We all lick our plates with this one. My teen daughters are always begging me to make it! This Orange Avocado Salad is a delicious combination of oranges, avocado, and goat cheese served over arugula and tossed with a balsamic vinaigrette. It’s outrageously good!
This salad is good enough to eat on its own for a lunch or dinner, but is also perfect as a side salad too. This makes 4 meal-size servings, or 8+ servings for a smaller, “side-salad”. It’s sooooo good. I hope you love it!
Ingredients for Orange Avocado Salad
Cucumber
I love to chop up cucumber really small for this recipe.
Red Onion
If you don’t love red onion, you can skip this, but I think that it gives the salad a nice zing! You could also try pickled onions. I have a quick pickle recipe that is so yummy.
Orange
Oranges make this salad! I like to use Cara Cara oranges because they are so flavorful and juicy. If you’ve nnever tried a Cara Cara orange, you shouold try them. They have a more distinct, almost floral flavor to them. You could also use Navel oranges, Blood oranges, or even tangerines or clementines too.
Avocado
Avocado is also a must. I mean, this is called Orange Avocado Salad after all!
Pine Nuts
I love to toast up pine nuts right before serving this salad to take away some of the bitterness and add a yummy toasty flavor.
Goat Cheese
If you don’t love goat cheese you could totally use feta or even fresh mozzarella.
Arugula
Arugula is my green of choice for all salads! It has the best peppery flavor.
Balsamic Dressing for Orange Avocado Salad
This is just a simple balsamic vinaigrette. I like to use Baker and Olive’s White Peach Balsamic for this dressing. It just adds a little extra sweetness. You can get 10% off your order if you use my link or my code Amberskitchen!
Of course, you don’t need to use that specific balsamic vinegar (though I highly recommend it). You can use whatever balsamic you have in your pantry at home.
Make the Dressing in Your Serving Bowl
I like to prepare my dressing in the same bowl that I’m going to serve my salad in. Apparently this is a hack! When I shared this on my feed a while ago, some of you went crazy for this technique!
I always make my dressing in my serving bowl so that I don’t have to dirty another dish! All you have to do is add all of the dressing ingredients to the bowl and mix it up with a whisk. Then, add the rest of your salad ingredients and toss everything together.
What to Serve with Orange Avocado Salad
This salad is so delicous that it can totally be served on its own for lunch or dinner. But if you want to add some chicken to the salad, that would be so great too. Try my favorite grilled chicken or baked chicken.
You could serve this as a side with my Crowd Pleasing Baked Chicken and Rice. This is one of my readers’ favorite recipes of all time.
